TestDaF preparation: practise German reading and vocabulary

TestDaF preparation combines language development with practice for your chosen test format. Reading and listening in context can support that preparation; they do not cover every assessed skill.

Follow an argument in German

In a passage, identify the claim, its reason and a limitation. Connecting words such as “allerdings”, “daher” and “während” help you understand how the author’s ideas relate.

Keep useful phrases with their grammatical patterns: “sich auf etwas beziehen” or “zu einem Ergebnis kommen”. Knowing the preposition is part of knowing the expression.

Separate benefit and limitation

Read this original practice sentence and explain both sides of the statement. Use it for language work, not as a prediction of official tasks.

Digitale Materialien sind leicht zugänglich. Allerdings benötigen Studierende dafür eine zuverlässige Internetverbindung.
What benefit is mentioned, and what condition limits it? Write a similar contrast about studying in a library using “allerdings”.

Add format-specific practice

Use Lexiego to practise reading, listening and vocabulary review. Add writing, speaking and official sample tasks for the TestDaF format you will take. Check requirements with the test provider and your institution; Lexiego does not certify a TestDaF level.

  1. Read a German passage and mark its argument.
  2. Save a useful expression with its grammatical context.
  3. Summarise it aloud or in writing.
  4. Compare your skills with official practice tasks and seek feedback where needed.
