onSET preparation: practise C-Test reading strategies
C-Test practice asks you to reconstruct incomplete words in connected text. A useful strategy combines the topic of the passage with sentence grammar and the visible part of each word.
Read around the gap first
Identify the topic and follow the surrounding sentence before typing. A plausible word must fit both meaning and grammar. Check whether the gap needs a noun, a verb or an adjective, then consider endings and word formation.
When a guess fails, review why. Did you misread the meaning, forget an ending or choose a word that did not fit the phrase? That distinction tells you what to practise next.
Use several clues together
This simplified sentence illustrates the reasoning, not an official onSET task. Explain your answer instead of relying only on a familiar beginning.
Nach dem langen Tag war sie sehr mü__ und ging früh ins Bett.Practise, review, then check the real format
