IELTS preparation: build vocabulary and reading habits
IELTS preparation needs practice with the test you intend to take. Contextual vocabulary and regular reading can support that work, but they are not substitutes for official task practice.
Read for relationships, not just matching words
Practise recognising contrast, cause and consequence. When a question paraphrases a passage, identical words are not enough: check whether the meaning and the strength of the claim match.
Choose material about varied topics and summarise its main point. With unfamiliar vocabulary, decide whether the word is essential to the answer or whether the surrounding sentence provides enough meaning.
Notice a limitation in a statement
A short reading exercise can help you distinguish a finding from a broad conclusion. This is supporting language practice, not an official IELTS question.
Although the new route shortened the journey, it did not reduce ticket prices.Combine app practice with official materials
Use Lexiego for reading, listening and reviewing useful words in context. Practise the required test tasks separately, including writing and speaking, and check current test information with IELTS. Lexiego is an independent learning app and does not award IELTS scores.
